The Gamechangers – Thorpe Park

In the final of our property-based series of videos called The Gamechangers, we highlight the huge Thorpe Park project on the outskirts of Leeds in Yorkshire.

We filmed at the project as part of our growing portfolio in the property sector (see video below). The video was part of the Yorkshire Property Awards staged by Variety the Children’s Charity. It was shown to over a thousand property professionals at the prestigious event.

To the south of the East Leeds Extension, adjoining Junction 46 of the M1, Thorpe Park is, a well-established prime business park with a working population of around 4,500 people in 40 buildings and a high quality hotel, spa and conference centre.

The development is seen as a major opportunity for employment growth in the region, with the first of a new standard of office buildings completed in November 2016.The next stage of the Thorpe Park Leeds development will provide an additional 125,875 sq. metres of office, shopping and leisure space and 300 new homes to create one of the largest and most diverse out of town business locations in the UK.

Work is now well underway on the Manston Lane Link Road (MLLR) which will connect the East Leeds Extension to Thorpe Park via a new bridge over the Leeds-York rail line and provide a connection from the M1 to the East Leeds Orbital Road. The MLLR is expected to enable the opening of the new retail and leisure developments. New areas for development are expected to be opened up as the project continues in future years.

The 275 acre estate will comprise a mix of business and supporting amenity uses, including 140 acres of parkland and public realm with sports facilities, in a prominent strategic and well connected location.

Scarborough Group, the developer of Thorpe Park Leeds, joined forces with Legal and General in August 2015 to deliver the project – a commitment of some £162m. Legal and General is one of the UK’s most active institutional property investors.
