Viva Las Vegas!

Good Call Media travelled to Las Vegas, USA for the 2024 Western Veterinary Conference (WVC).

The Conference is one of the largest events of its kind in the world and our joint owners, Fiona Molloy and Nik Wood were to be seen filming a whole series of interviews on the Conference floor as part of our ongoing high profile in the veterinary sector.

We were based on Volition Veterinary’s stand as their Nu.Q® Vet Cancer Test continues in its expansion across the USA into Europe and Asia. Earlier this year Volition announced the expansion of the availability of the test throughout North America, through the IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (“IDEXX”) reference laboratory network in the U.S.

Dr. Tom Butera, Chief Executive Officer of Volition Veterinary Diagnostics Development LLC, said: “IDEXX is a global leader in pet healthcare innovation and well-positioned to roll out the IDEXX Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen worldwide. It is a simple, cost effective, easy to use blood test for screening older or ‘at risk’ dogs.

“Our Nucleosomics™ technology is easy to incorporate into annual wellness visits to support veterinarians in their clinical decision-making, enable earlier detection and treatment of cancer and improve the health and wellbeing of pets and pet owners.

“IDEXX’s launch of the Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen in the U.S. this week, under our previously announced supply agreement¹, ultimately provides worldwide customer reach through its global reference laboratory network as we continue to commercialize our transformational Nu.Q® technology within the companion animal healthcare sector, and capitalize on the significant opportunities available.”

Volition is developing simple, easy-to-use, cost-effective blood tests to help diagnose and monitor a range of life-altering diseases including cancer in both humans and animals. For more information about Volition’s Nu.Q® technology go to: www.volition.com.

Evolution of a Song

As part of a policy of supporting the communities where we live and work, were excited to highlight the development of a new original number on the latest album by South of England band, the TR5’s.

The band has become well know on the live music circuit for their blend of 50s skiffle and early 60s rock and roll, playing a wide variety of venues including leading festivals and central London gigs. in 2023 they were invited to play at
International Beatleweek, a 7 day, 7 night extravaganza. The event celebrated the music of those sons from Liverpool, John, Paul, George and Ringo, and took over iconic venues across the city with the sounds of ‘The Fabs’ reverberating around the city walls.

The TR5’s latest album ‘A Triumph’ features an original number, Drummin’ Man’, written by the band’s former lead guitarist, Richey, who wanted to celebrate the role of drummers in bands like the late Taylor Hawkins. We used our interviewing skills to trace the evolution of the song to portray the unique elements of the number. The album is available on Foot Tapping Records. FT230. The link is here – www.foottappingrecords.co.uk

Good Call Media co-owner, Nik Wood, said: “We came across the band after forging a friendship with our neighbour Harry Barsk (known as Finn in the TR5’s) who originates from Sweden. He invited us along to a few of the band’s gigs and we were so impressed with the band, that we decided to give them a hand in promoting their new album”.

Drummin’ Man has a fascinating beat and tells an interesting story but, despite its title, also promotes the skills of women who play the drums in bands.

You can also find the album on all major music streaming sites and see further details through these links:

New Wildlife Research Fund Video

Good Call Media travelled to Belgium to record an interview connected with the new Ceva Wildlife Research Fund for one of our major clients, Ceva Animal Health.

Since October 2021, Europe has been facing an epidemic of highly pathogenic avian influenza, considered to be the most destructive it has ever seen.

The endowment fund supports the Belgian animal park Pairi Daiza, named best zoo in Europe, by financing a vaccination program against the avian influenza threatening the park’s birds including wild pelicans and peacocks. This epidemic, caused by the H5N1 virus, affects both poultry and wild birds, leading to the death of several million birds and causing massive mortality in both wild populations and animal parks.

The pelican and peacock conservation program at the Pairi Daiza animal park is a prime example of concrete collaboration with a positive impact. The Ceva Wildlife Research Fund supports this project by financing vaccination campaigns and providing expertise and equipment. The Sciensano Institute, a national reference laboratory, contributes by ensuring the necessary serological and virological follow-up, as required by the Belgian authorities.

London Vet Show – Overview Video

We attended London Vet Show & BVA Live, Europe’s largest veterinary exhibition, to launch Volition RX’s Nu.Q® Vet Cancer test to the UK and Ireland markets through two new collaborators, Veterinary Pathology Group (VPG) , and NationWide Laboratories.

We spoke to many attendees from the veterinary field and filmed talks featuring Volition’s Research Director, Dr. Rebecca Timmons, and Dr. Sue Ettinger, aka Dr. Sue Cancer Vet, a practicing veterinary cancer specialist, international speaker, book author, and vlogger.

Support for Orchards Cookery School

We were so impressed with the Orchards Cookery School in the UK when we came across their work with young people and food, that we decided to make a film for them.

Orchards Cookery specialises in training and recruiting Chalet Cooks and also runs Off to University courses, Designer Dinner party courses, Corporate Days and One and Two Day cookery courses.

The Award Winning cookery school has a new approach to cookery and tuition, courses are ‘hands on’ and lots of fun, each day concluding with a dinner party.

The school also offers a recruitment service supplying cooks for ski chalets, private parties, shooting, hunting and fishing lodges, holiday villas, yachts etc. The school is a family home situated on a farm in the heart of England, near Stratford-upon-Avon and students live in cottages on site.

New Product Video for SAFTA

SST has developed and continues to develop products to combat the increasing losses being incurred by airlines and a broad range of transport sectors due to theft and fraud. We have already produced an overview video for the company, used prominently on their website, and they have now just commissioned Good Call Media to produce a product explainer video designed to be shown to potential investors in the company:

Powerful Employee Case Studies

We have worked with XP Power for a number of years, starting with ‘as live’ interviews with senior directors highlighting their bi-annual financial results.

The company wanted to take our involvement a step further. As part of their move to attract the very best candidates to work with their teams, Good Call Media co-owner, Fiona Molloy, was asked to record a number of interviews with key employees and the results were used on social media, including her own Linked In site.

Attachment Theory Research

Working with our partners, worldwide veterinary health company, Ceva Animal Health, we have been highlighting fascinating new research into the attachment theory between children and young people and their companion animals.

Many experts agree that companion animals can be beneficial to human wellbeing, and there is considerable anecdotal evidence to support this idea. High-quality, peer-reviewed science in this area is, however, largely lacking. This makes it difficult to develop effective evidence-based policies, best practices and guidelines for organisations and individuals working in the field of animal-assisted interventions.

Sound policies and guidance are vital to ensure animal-assisted interventions – ranging from fully-trained assistance animals to family pets – respect the well-being of both humans and animals, and

deliver maximum benefits. A sound evidence base is also crucial if public health agencies and other organisations are to be convinced to allocate scarce resources to animal-assisted interventions over other options.

As part of its ongoing support to the International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations (IAHAIO), Ceva is continuing to support innovative research to help enhance the science around the human-animal bond. It particularly focuses on how pets can improve the wellbeing of children and young people, including those living with mental health challenges. Earlier support from Ceva helped to shed light on a mechanism (synchrony 1) that may underlie the effect of dog-assisted therapy and how this makes a difference for children with autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome 2.

The latest PhD researcher to be supported by Ceva is Danielle Groenewoud, an experienced clinical psychologist, who is comparing the nature of the bond between youngsters aged 8-14 years with their pets and also with their parents. In her clinical work with adolescents with depression or anxiety, Danielle is used to working with the whole family – parents and siblings, and often pets too. She realised, however, that 20-years ago, when she trained, there was nothing in the curriculum about the human animal bond and, even now, this topic receives only scant coverage.

Company News Videos

Our New York Stock Exchange-quoted client, Volition RX, has mastered the art of making company announcements…using video.

Heska’s Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen and Monitor Test will operate on Heska’s proprietary Element i+® Immunodiagnostic Analyzer, a point-of-care platform which provides veterinarians with rapid, accurate, low cost, and easy-to-use on-site testing in the veterinary clinic, to support clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Tom Butera, Chief Executive Officer of Volition Veterinary Diagnostics Development LLC, said:
“This is a breakthrough moment for Volition: it is the first time the Nu.Q® platform is available outside of centralised laboratory testing. Our mission at Volition is to ensure that our Nucleosomics™ technology is accessible and affordable worldwide, to detect and monitor disease earlier and improve outcomes. We are delighted to be working with Heska and their remarkable point-of-care technology to enable vets, pets, and pet families to benefit from our innovative technology. We are thrilled to advance towards full commercial launch and license payment milestones.”

Kevin Wilson, Heska’s Chief Executive Officer and President said, “We are pleased now to offer our transformative Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen and Monitor Test at the point-of-care, which we believe will revolutionize canine cancer patient management. Available now for pre-order, the screen and monitoring test will assist veterinarians to detect cancer early, in the clinic, in minutes, and for under $50, to support clinical decision-making during annual check-ups, regular wellness exams, healthcare interventions, treatment cycles, and remission. While we also offer this technology at the central reference lab, we believe the benefits of point-of-care cancer screening and monitoring are significant and will provide outsized benefits to veterinarians, nursing and technical teams, pets, and pet families.”

“With this forthcoming launch, millions of pets will have access to critical cancer screening and monitoring in the clinic, to catch, treat and drive recovery from cancers earlier, for better healthcare outcomes and peace of mind. We believe that this innovation will be transformative to veterinarian healthcare as Heska begins to roll it out exclusively to the point-of-care, with our global commercial launch targeted for early in the second quarter of this year,” concluded Mr. Wilson.

Volition is developing simple, easy-to-use, cost-effective blood tests to help diagnose and monitor a range of life-altering diseases including cancer in both humans and animals. For more information about Volition’s Nu.Q® technology go to: www.volition.com
