Our Co-owner Fiona Molloy

Good Call Media Co-owner, Fiona Molloy used her interviewing, editing and graphics skills to support our client, VolitionRX, quoted on the New York Stock Exchange, to prepare a webinar highlighting the company’s developing a programme of early detection with their Nu.Q® NETs tool.

Globally, sepsis is estimated to be contracted by about 50 million people, leading to more than 11 million deaths (c 25% mortality rate) each year. It accounts for 42% of global deaths of children under the age of five.

The condition can spread rapidly and cause multiple organ failure. Survivors can suffer life-altering consequences, with 50% left with the pathological condition of long-term sequelae.

See the Linked In posting below to take a look at how the webinar turned out:

Volition is undertaking studies to test its groundbreaking CE-marked technology as a diagnostic aid for sepsis and to monitor disease progression and treatment response.

To find out more about sepsis and Volition’s exciting work in this field, read Edison’s thematic report and watch this short video featuring Dr Andrew Retter, a consultant in intensive care specialising in sepsis. Let’s stop the rot.

Nik Wood host for Awards

That is the home of the latest winner to be named by the World Veterinary Association (WVA) for their prestigious 2024 Global Veterinary Awards, sponsored by our client, Ceva Animal Health. Good Call Media Co-owner, Nik Wood, will host the official ceremony to hand over the Awards at the WVA’s annual congress in Cape Town, South Africa in April this year.

Dr. Renwick was nominated by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) for his active role in the field of antimicrobial stewardship, as well as other issues of national importance, including One Health and the role of the Canadian Veterinary Profession in addressing the challenges of Climate Change.

Dr. Renwick spearheaded the development of the Stewardship of Antimicrobials by Veterinarians Initiative (SAVI) as well as a mobile app called Firstline. These tools help veterinarians working with many species to select the most appropriate antibiotic, if indicated, as well as dosage and withdrawal times.

The winner of the Medicine Stewardship Award has been revealed as Canadian veterinarian, Dr. Shane Renwick. See our video report here:

We are on our travels around the world again, to record films depicting the winners of the 2024 World Veterinary Association (WVA) Global Veterinary Awards, sponsored by our ‘patron’ client, Ceva Animal Health.

The five Award winners will be revealed on a regular basis in the run up to the presentation ceremony, which will be held on stage at the WVA’s 39th Annual Congress being held in Cape Town, South Africa between 16-19 April and hosted by Good Call Media’s co-owner, Nik Wood.

The back-story videos play a major part in the ceremony because they graphically illustrate the work of the winning veterinarians who have all been selected for going ‘above and beyond’ in the category where they are
nominated.

The first winner to be announced in the One Health category, is Dr. Simon Doherty of Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK (see our video report below).

Dr. Doherty was nominated and supported by three WVA members – the British Veterinary Association nominated Dr Doherty with the support of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) and of the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association for his outstanding contributions to One Health.

Viva Las Vegas!

Good Call Media travelled to Las Vegas, USA for the 2024 Western Veterinary Conference (WVC).

The Conference is one of the largest events of its kind in the world and our joint owners, Fiona Molloy and Nik Wood were to be seen filming a whole series of interviews on the Conference floor as part of our ongoing high profile in the veterinary sector.

We were based on Volition Veterinary’s stand as their Nu.Q® Vet Cancer Test continues in its expansion across the USA into Europe and Asia. Earlier this year Volition announced the expansion of the availability of the test throughout North America, through the IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (“IDEXX”) reference laboratory network in the U.S.

Dr. Tom Butera, Chief Executive Officer of Volition Veterinary Diagnostics Development LLC, said: “IDEXX is a global leader in pet healthcare innovation and well-positioned to roll out the IDEXX Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen worldwide. It is a simple, cost effective, easy to use blood test for screening older or ‘at risk’ dogs.

“Our Nucleosomics™ technology is easy to incorporate into annual wellness visits to support veterinarians in their clinical decision-making, enable earlier detection and treatment of cancer and improve the health and wellbeing of pets and pet owners.

“IDEXX’s launch of the Nu.Q® Canine Cancer Screen in the U.S. this week, under our previously announced supply agreement¹, ultimately provides worldwide customer reach through its global reference laboratory network as we continue to commercialize our transformational Nu.Q® technology within the companion animal healthcare sector, and capitalize on the significant opportunities available.”

Volition is developing simple, easy-to-use, cost-effective blood tests to help diagnose and monitor a range of life-altering diseases including cancer in both humans and animals. For more information about Volition’s Nu.Q® technology go to: www.volition.com.
